THIS MUST BE TURNED IN OR POST-DATED BY YOUR ORIGINAL COURT DATE.
You may be able to obtain dismissal of a moving violation by requesting to take a Driving Safety Course IF:
A: You DO NOT hold a Commercial Driver's License(CDL) and
B: You have not taken a Driving Safety Course in the past 12 months and
C: You did not exceed the speed limit by more than 24 MPH(25 MPH and up do not qualify) and
D: You were not in a construction zone with workers present and
E: You were not cited for any Fail to Yield ROW Violations and
F: You have a Valid Texas Driver's License or Military ID along with valid insurance.
G: If you qualify to take the DSC, then you must do the following BY or BEFORE court date:
G-1. Print and fill out the form(on the form page) get the form notarized, mail in the notarized request form with a copy of your insurance, citation and a money order or cashier's check in the amount of $110.00 ($135.00 in a school zone and if citation was given due to accident).
G-2. AFTER you have completed step 1 then you have 90 days (it is your responsibility to contact the court to get the due date to have your DSC completed by) to ORDER your 3A driving record from TXDPS, which may be ordered online or the form to request it by mail can both be found at the DPS website, (WWW.TEXAS.GOV) and to take your Driving Safety Course.
G-3. When you have received your Driving Record and your certificate of completion for your Driving Safety Course, YOU MUST SIGN the DSC Certificate and check the Court information to make sure it says: George West Municipal Court. Then mail both of the items to the court.
**Failure to complete the DSC within the 90 day period will result in you having to pay the original FINE and possibly will result in a warrant for your arrest, driver's license suspension and your case being submitted to collections with added fines and fees.
**Your DSC Certificate of Completion and 3A Driving Record DOES NOT have to be turned in within that 90 day period; it must show that you completed the DSC within the allotted time because that is the date we look at to make sure IT WAS COMPLETED on time. However, it is BEST to get the DSC and 3A Record completed as soon as possible.
